However there is more to the story of how this beautiful example of automotive design came into being. The Lamborghini insignia prominently features the image of a charging bull and every car design is attributed to some area of bullfighting, in this case it was the bull himself that received the honor.
More than a century ago, a bull name Murciélago rose to fame by refusing to die after 24 strokes from the matador. The fighting spirit of this bull so inspired the fans that they pleaded for the matador to spare his life. The matador bowed to the demands of the crowd and the bull was presented to Antonio Miura, where he became the father of the Miura bulls that surpassed others in strength and fighting power.
So it should be no surprise to anyone that the revolutionary car design of the Murciélago knocked car fans off their feet. Its predecessor, the Diablo was the first Lamborghini capable of attaining a top speed in excess of 200 miles per hour (320 km/h). And rightfully so; this car has the ability to reach a maximum speed of over 210 mph (340 km/h); with top speeds of 221 mph (356 km/h) using an internal speedometer. As one of the most expensive sports cars in the world, the exterior design is just the beginning. Step inside the cabin of this car and be prepared to be overwhelmed with the array of instrumentation and styling that supports the power of this machine. The most impressive being the completely new G-Force meter which displays the dynamic drive forces measured on a graduated 3D grid. This is similar to the device used by Formula One drivers; it calculates the acceleration with varying measurements. With the simple press of a button, drivers have the ability to switch to the quasi-analog display with the usual circular speedometer and tachometer with the G-Force-Meter remaining at the center.
The housing for all of the bells and whistles of this design is carved from a solid aluminum block wrapped in a carbon fiber casing; three TFT liquid crystal displays (LCDs) with two different display modes. For the driver's comfort the seating is finished in black leather and brown Alcantara material.
For many auto enthusiasts the Lamborghini Reventón is as close to heaven as one could imagine and with a base price of close to 1.5 million Euros (2 million USD) it's understandable that all 20 units to be produced are already spoken for. For each unit sold, its numerical position in the production sequence will be stamped between the driver and passenger seats. As Lamborghini is now a part of Audi Motors, this partnership has also influenced its design perspective. The Reventón is the first Lamborghini model to feature headlamps with daylight running lights. Whenever the car is in movement, the seven Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) for each of the headlamps border the Bi-Xenon main beam remain lit for increased visibility. To compensate for the high temperatures in the lower rear area of the car, the Reventón is equipped with special heatproof LEDs that are used for the stoplights, hazard lights, rear lights and indicator lights providing a triple arrow optical effect.
