Brand New Maserati GranTurismo Debut

Maserati and Pininfarina have yet again teamed up to bring us a tantalizing and very bold looking new Maserati, which is set to debut at the upcoming Geneva Auto Show in the coming weeks as of this articles publication.

The new GranTurismo is poised to replace the aged and lackluster Coupe and Spyder variants the company has at the moment. The new GranTurismo comes at a perfect time as the previous car has had marginal sales and has failed to grasp the car enthusiast demographic. Pininfarina released a sketch that soon made its way to the hands of the public and is shown below, and only four days later we have the production pictures at hand.

According to the Maserati Press Release on the new car: "The new Maserati GranTurismo is a high-performance sports car, exciting to drive with a 4.2 liter V8 engine, delivering 405 HP, and a weight distribution of 49% at the front and 51% at the rear. It is fitted with an automatic gearbox and equipped with an adaptive control system which adjusts the gear-shifting mode to the driving style and the driving conditions."

The car resembles its nearest cousin the Ferrari 599 and apparently will have the same inner workings from the beautiful Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione for the even quicker GranSport version that has been rumored as well. The GranTurismo name seems to be set in stone based on the rear badging in the pictures shown, and is expected to reach dealerships in the summer.

All this recent news has stirred many questions but little response from Maserati. It may be also sharing the same platform as the upcoming and not yet official Dino Ferrari that has been talked about. The convertible version of the Maserati is set to come out in the coming year and will take on the likes of the BMW M6, Jaguar XKR and the Aston Martin DB9. Expect a full report of this car when details emerge.
