Who's The Boss?'s Samantha Miceli was one of those seminal television characters that an entire generation of TV watchers will always remember. While Alyssa Milano may be most famous for her role as Tony Danza's daughter on the sitcom, she didn't go the way of many child stars, and instead was able to continue her successful acting career long after the show was over. These days Milano is still acting and is enjoying a new role: motherhood.
Although she carries an Italian name, this former child star born in Santa Monica in 1980 actually doesn't consider herself Italian at all, preferring her Scottish/Irish heritage. However, her looks and name testify to the Italian side of her. In any case, Ricci is a talented actress, regardless of her roots and ethnicity.
Pretty, a bit naïve, dated Quentin Tarantino, Mira Sorvino may not exactly seem like Harvard material... This perception could not be more wrong and this woman is anything but the bimbo made famous by Hollywood. She is in fact a Harvard graduate and is fluent in Mandarin and French, much more than can be said for many of her fellow actors. On the top of this, she has won an Oscar for her performance in "Mighty Aphrodite", in which Woody Allen saw in her his muse. This is a CV that would make many of her colleagues jealous.
Born in Italy in 1952, this manager, who apparently arrived from nowhere with a background in philosophy and was brought to Fiat as CEO by Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, has become one of the most important figures not only in the Italian economy, but in the world. Marchionne took a very different approach in turning around the fate of Fiat, which seemed to be doomed before his arrival. He made the company a self-sustaining one, rather than depending on the support of the Italian government, as was the case for decades. Marchionne restructured the company and made it very aggressive in the international market, aiming at specific countries such as the U.S., where traditionally Fiat had been always very weak.
Let's begin with three words: an amazing actor. For decades this British performer has given great acts and conquered the heart of millions of fans, especially females. His big breakthrough came in 1996 with his stellar performance as Mr Darcy in a true masterpiece, Pride and Prejudice. The made-for-TV movie, even today, has one of the highest feedback rating on IMDB and Amazon. It is definitely a must-see.
Not many people have the courage to stand up for their ideals and fight for the better interests of society, but Giovanni Falcone, along with his friend Paolo Borsellino, is certainly one who has. Born in Palermo in May of 1939, Falcone would go on to graduate with a law degree from the University of Palermo and become an Italian magistrate seen as a hero in the Italian fight against the mafia. Due to his drive and actions, Falcone will always have a place in the political history of the Italian Republic.
