We wanted to thank you again for the superb job you did in repairing
our broken china, crystal and statuette. We never thought that
they would ever be the same after the movers had broken them. We were
particularly impressed with the way you were able to repair the punch
bowl base. There is no way that anyone can now tell that it used to
be in eleven pieces - with a few others missing! You are indeed a craftsman!
We recommend you to all.
Sincerely, Dale and Nancy von Haase
I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude and wonder
at the beautiful and incredible workmanship on my antique washbowl
that you restored. My grandson knocked this family heirloom off
a table and it broke into about 35 major pieces, plus many numerous
small slivers and pieces. When I first heard the crash and saw the disaster,
I knew that was the end of that heirloom. Never for a moment did I think
it could be fixed!!! I was prepared to have to throw it away.
However, after some investigation into restoration possibilities,
I discovered Giovanni. What a true master craftsman he is!!! The bowl
was restored so well, you would believe it had never broken! I have
showed it to friends and then showed them the "before" picture of all
the pieces. It is truly amazing. People are in awe when they see the
repaired bowl!!!
Thank you Giovanni! Thank you so much!!!
Most Sincerely, Elizabeth Prest
Several years ago, you did a beautiful job of repairing my broken
meerschaum figurine. Since that time, we have moved out of
the area, and in the process, another of the figurines was broken.
I am sending it to you now for repair, along with a glass Christmas
ornament that was also damaged. The ornament has a great deal of
sentimental value and I'd like to have it repaired if possible.
Please drop us a note or give us a call when the pieces are ready.
We are still in the Rockville/Potomac area from time to time, and
we will make arrangements to pick them up.
Thank you for your help! Harriet Novak
I am writing to thank you and your brother, Giampaolo, for
the very fine work you performed on the Murano glass chandelier
pieces that I needed to replace. As I had mentioned to you,
the chandelier was one that came with the house when I purchased
it back in 1989, and four of the descending flower petals were badly
damaged. I was very concerned about being able to match up replacement
pieces with the original color, design, and gold overlay of the
chandelier. I had contacted a number of very reputable glass
blowers in the D.C. Metropolitan area, only to be told that
they could not do the job. Fortunately, one of these artisans referred
me to you.
The six replacement pieces that Giampaolo made are indistinguishable
from the original pieces. The color, shape, and gold overlay were
as exact as to the original specifications as one could imagine.
This was even more remarkable given the dual-color make-up of each
of the pieces - combining rose and light blue colors in a single
piece. We took four of the replacements and placed them in the chandelier
along with the two undamaged originals, and the chandelier looks
fantastic. (We will keep the additional two replacement pieces as
back-ups.)
So, again, thanks much for the very fine work. I would be
glad to act as a reference for any customers seeking an endorsement
of the expertise and professional service you and your brother provided.
If I and my family ever travel to Italy, we'd very much enjoy meeting
your brother and seeing his glass works. Please pass my appreciation
on to Giampaolo at your convenience.

I am writing to thank you for the amazing restoration job you
were able to achieve on my shattered 18th Century 1000
faces Japanese bowl . It had been a wedding present to my parents
in 1929 from my father's father, a collector of Asian art, and stood
on a large sideboard in the dining room of a very modern house built
for them in California in 1930. I remember as a very young child
finding the bowl both beautiful and intriguing and having to stand
on a stool to count the faces. Tragically, a devastating magnitude
6.9 earthquake in the San Francisco bay area in 1989 knocked down
a heavy Chinese artwork
hanging on the wall above the bowl and smashed it into smithereens.
When I visited my family the next year, I was devastated by the
destruction of the bowl. The pieces had been swept up and sealed
in a small box, and when I asked if I could have them in the event
that I could back together someday, the box was mailed to me in
McLean, where it sat forgotten on a basement shelf for 12 ½ years.
The box and its contents would likely never have seen the light
of day had I not acted on a whim to call you after seeing a December
5 article in the Washington Post extolling your restoration abilities
and those of your workshop in Potomac Maryland.
As you will recall, when my wife and I brought you the vase pieces
in their box and you opened it, your first words were something
to the effect that "this could provide a year's work for a retirement
home," but you agreed to look at it more carefully and get back
to us. I was sure you would not be able to do anything and felt
somewhat foolish for having any hope at all that restoration was
possible. However when you called to say that it was "a magnificent
piece," and "like the Sistine Chapel, it needs to be put back together
for people to see and enjoy it;" we had to say "go for it."
When you telephoned to say the bowl was ready and that we would
be shocked when we saw it, I didn't know what you meant by the word
"shocked", but I assumed you meant pleased or even amazed. And when
we arrived to pick it up and you showed us what you had done, you
must have wondered why I was not more effusive, particularly given
the fact that the bowl was whole again, and that there was no indication
of pieces and that you had to "recreate" two missing pieces. In short,
I was shocked to see it. It was like Lazarus raised from the dead.
I had never thought the pile of pieces we brought you could ever
come back to create such a flawless whole. It wasn't until we got
it home that I began to believe my eyes and appreciate what you
had done. It was always a magnificent bowl and work of art, and
somehow you had resurrected it, in an absolutely magnificent effort.
You are truly a magician.
Gratefully yours, David W. Colby
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the wonderful
restoration work you did on the two figurines.
It is impossible to see where the repairs were made and I find that
absolutely amazing. You are truly a master craftsman. I consider
myself fortunate to have been referred to you.
I also very much appreciate how quickly you were able to get the
work done.
Thank you very much.
Kind regards,
Ellen M. Weiss
