Police injured in shoot-out with alleged thieves

(ANSA) - Naples, January 9 - Police in the southern Italian city of Naples were hunting for three suspects Tuesday after two officers were shot while chasing a stolen scooter.

One police officer was slightly injured when a bullet grazed his arm while the other officer was struck in the side during the shoot-out Monday night.

Police say the trio allegedly began shooting at police as officers drew close to the alleged stolen scooter.

Four shell casings were found on the scene and officers said several bullets were lodged in the police car itself.
