SOCCER: MORATTI HAILS INTER WIN
(ANSA) - Milan, November 5 - Inter Milan Chairman Massimo Moratti on Thursday hailed Inter's last-gasp 2-1 Champions League win at Dynamo Kiev.
Moratti said coach Jose' Mourino had been ''very good'' in making key changes that produced the two late goals which raised Inter from bottom to top of its qualifying group.
The team, he added, ''showed character'' in Kiev Wednesday night in overturning a 1-0 deficit in the 85th and 89th minutes with goals from Diego Milito and Wesley Sneijder.
After an under-par first half, the team's second-half display had been ''thrilling'' and ''spectacular'', Moratti said.
Dynamo appeared poised to hold out for victory after a 21st-minute goal from former AC Milan striker Andriy Shevchenko.
The Italian press praised the Italian champions in front-page reports Thursday.
Corriere della Sera, Italy's biggest-selling paper, called the win ''a miracle''.
La Repubblica, the second-biggest seller, said Inter had been ''incredible''.
To qualify, Inter now need just three points from their last two games, a visit to Spanish champions and Champions League title holders Barcelona and a home game against Russian champs Rubin Kazan.
Had they lost, they would have been bottom of Group F, three points behind Kiev and two behind Rubin and Barcelona, needing two wins to have a chance of going through. photo: Sneijder after scrambled winner
