Mission Statement

The mission of Life in Italy is to provide English speaking people with interesting and informative articles about Italy and Italian lifestyle. Any subject from Food, Wine, culture, Interior design, Real Estate, Tourism, Entertainment, Fashion and Style are covered.

What is it all about?

This web site is not quite Italian, not quite American, not Italian American, Not English... either...so what's the point? The philosophy of this web site is to give all sort of fresh information on how modern life in Italy effectively is. This hopefully will give the opportunity to Italian American and English speaking to keep up with the style of life and the news in modern Italy - It should at the same time help American and English speaking persons who decide to visit or go to live overseas. Fresh discussions about todays food, travel, traffic, lifestyle, interior design, etc...should accomplish both goals. Anybody who has something to say and is familiar with modern Italy is welcome to add his and her comment or article, here or on our forum.

Life in Italy as Made in Italy

Life in Italy. Authenticity Guaranteed:

The following products featured on Life in Italy are guaranteed to be hand made in Italy by  Italian artists. Before I include a new artist or artisan on Life in Italy, I visit them personally, meeting them at their workshop or company to make sure the product is made exactly as we represent on the website. I also take special attention in getting to know personally all the artisans.

Unfortunately, in recent years, many products identified as "Italian" or "Italian design" are being made in other countries where the cost of production may be lower due to the significantly lower wages paid to the artisans. Often, the quality of the work suffers. Life in Italy ensures that our products are made entirely in Italy. This ensures the consistency of the quality and that the buyer is getting what he / she paid for -- Italian art. We believe that a fake Rolex is not as good as the authentic Rolex and Parmesan cheese made in Argentina does not taste like the one made in Emilia Romagna. The same is true for ceramics: the copies tend to chip more easily and usually the workmanship is not as detailed or accurate.

We also guarantee that that the following companies have very competitive pricing since we work directly with the artisan. Lifeinitaly hosts and acts as a U.S. point of contact for the following Italian companies:

  • MOD Ceramics www.derutaitaly.com Ivan and Grazia Ranocchia
  • BeB Affreschi www.italianfrescoes.com Sergio Bonometti and Giovanni Bressana
  • Boccini Ceramics www.deruta.us Nicola and Luigi Boccini
  • Frammenti Art Mosaics www.frammentiart.com Tiziana Mondini and Corinna Notaro
  • Sergio Valeri Terracotta www.lifeinitaly.com/terracotta Sergio

We believe buying authentic Italian art (such as a beautiful piece of Deruta ceramics) is in your best interests as these artworks can be an investment that appreciates in value with time.
