Young Adults Organize Antique Fair in Pienza

Pienza: In March the second edition of the exhibition entitle "Antiques in the Cloister"

The Tuscan hill town of Pienza (UNESCO world heritage site) will host the second edition of the exhibition "Antiques in the Cloister" from Thursday 15 March to Monday 19 March. The exhibition is open to the public from 10.00 am to 20.00 pm and it will take place in an extraordinary location: the Relais hotel "Il Chiostro" (www.relaisilchiostrodipienza.com). Originally, a XV century Franciscan monastery, the Relais is located in the historic centre of the town.

The first edition of the exhibition was an outstanding success due to the careful selection of antique dealers and to the high quality of the merchandise. The organizers have decided to increase the number of stands this year and to lengthen the exhibition from the original three days to five days. In total, 30 exhibitors will be present coming from Italy and abroad.

The exhibition promises to be varied and lively: From antique furniture to jewellery, from curious pieces to carpets, from paintings to sculptures, from prints to marble pieces dating over a period extending from the XVII to the XX century. This will all be exhibited in unique surroundings of undeniable fascination: The Cloister of S. Frances and the frescoed halls of the Relais that are adjacent to the exquisite hanging garden that overlooks the Val d'Orcia.

As an indication of the strong link between antiques and culture desired by the organizers, the visitors to the exhibit will have the possibility to visit the interior of the Palazzo Piccolomini, residence of Pope Pius III, at a reduced price and to visit the exhibit "Pius II and the Arts." The antique show is also linked to the "Winter Promotion in Val d'Orcia" (www.parcodellavaldorcia.it) whereby upon presentation of a coupon, it will be possible to have a reduction on the entrance fee ranging from 5 to 3 euros.

The Exhibit is organized by the Cultural Association Il Circolo delle Idee (The Circle of Ideas) with support and cooperation from the Pienza town government, from Chianciano Terme and Siena, and from the communities of the Park of the Val d'Orcia and the Province of Siena.
