PROFILE RICCARDO SAI PRODUCER / DIRECTOR

Riccardo is a versatile producer director who combines extensive commercial design, animation and live action experience with a constant eye on the evolution of aesthetics, client needs and technology.

Riccardo's passion for painting and drawing manifested itself from an early age, as a young boyhis love of music and a fascination with comic books satisfied his artistic needs, that is until he discovered the language of the moving images.In his search for new challenges and to broaden his creative horizons he attended and graduated from the Faculty of Literature and Philosophy at the University of Bologna with honors in the "History of Cinema". He then started to specialize, first by completing a Diplomain Directing and Photography at the New York Film Academy followed up by attending the Masters in Direction and Production course at the London Film School, from which world-renowned filmmakers such as Michael Mann, Roger Pratt, Don Boyd and Mike Leigh previously graduated. Riccardo's multi-disciplinary approach to film projects has given him a breadth of directing experience in a wide variety of genres over the years: documentaries, drama, adverts and music videos.

He has directed adverts and films for J.W.Thompson, Agent Provocateur, Spoon Magazine, the European Union, Exposure, the London Development Agency and the Italian Ministry for Labourand Social Policy. He has also worked for O2, Okinawa, the Italian Cultural Institute of Londonand with personalities such as Ruby Turner, John Ward, Vivien Westwood and Dita Von Teese.His films have been screened in Harrods, the Tokyo Film Festival, Sky TV, Fashion TV, andmany other international satellite television channels.His eclectic approach to directing is combined with an intense and individual style, based upon his vision of social themes. He has directed projects promoted by NPO's, the European Union and other international organizations, a lot of which touch upon real social issues. He is also keen to experiment with new and unconventional visual languages that may allow him to open up new paths of communication. Riccardo has a good sense of humour and is always in search of new challenges.
