Weather forecast for Cosenza, Italy

Cosenza lies in the Valley of Crati, entirely surrounded by high mountains, so it is subject to a special microclimate. The Valley is located at an average altitude of 200m, locked up in the mountains of the Coast Range, of Sila and Pollino with a single and partial opening of the sea to the north-east (the Plain of Sibari). Consequently, the influence of the sea on its microclimate is almost absent: in fact, the temperature, daily and annual, are very high. The minimum temperatures at night reach low values but by day are very highs, especially in conditions of calm winds. As can be expected, summers are very hot. Winter in Cosenza is pretty cool, it snows on average 2 or 3 times a year with significant accumulations. Mists and fog are frequent, especially in lower areas, and frost in winters are common. In summer, often there are thunderstorms and cumulus clouds in the central hours of the day, and frequently are reported very high temperatures accompanied by very low humidity values.
